What we check · local businesses

Eight places local
leads quietly leak.

For roofing, HVAC, plumbing, pest control and foundation repair. Every audit covers the same eight checks, so you can compare yourself against the benchmark rather than against a sales pitch.

01

Google Verified status

Are you in the Local Services ads for your metro? Who is, how many reviews they carry, and whether you qualify.

02

Cost per lead vs benchmark

What you pay per lead now against your industry's Search-ads average (LocaliQ, 2025), and what Local Services would likely cost in your market.

03

Search ads waste

Keywords paying for DIY, job-seeker and cheap-repair searches, missing negative keywords, and match types that leak budget.

04

Conversion tracking

Whether phone calls count as conversions. If they don't, Google is optimising your budget for the wrong thing.

05

Migration exposure

Where you stand as Local Services moves into Google Ads, and which performance reports to save before your date.

06

Your site on a phone at 2am

Load speed, tap-to-call, financing and warranty up front, and how many taps it takes to book.

07

Google Business Profile

Categories, service areas, photos, and review count and speed compared with the companies beating you in the map pack.

08

Missed calls & speed-to-lead

What happens to a call at 9pm or on a Saturday, and how fast a web lead hears back.

What we map · B2B companies

Six things that decide
your next ten clients.

For commercial cleaning, managed IT, accounting, staffing and freight. You get a clear picture of who to go after and how many of them there are.

01

Your ideal buyer

Industry, company size and location, drawn from what your best existing clients have in common.

02

How many exist

A rough count of companies in your market that match, so you know whether the opportunity is fifty or five thousand.

03

Who signs off

The job titles that actually make the buying decision for what you sell, and the ones to skip.

04

Your offer, in their words

What makes those buyers switch providers, and how to say what you do so they want a conversation.

05

What they find when they look you up

Prospects check you out before they reply. We look at what they see and what makes them hesitate.

06

Where new clients come from now

Referrals, networking, your own team — and how much capacity you have for new clients each month.

This sample is built on an illustrative company to show the format. Your audit uses your real listing, site and numbers.

Sample local-business audit · illustrative company

Example Foundation Co. · Fort Worth, TX

Prepared by Pieter de Bruyn, Lumework

7 findings2 urgent · 3 important · 2 quick wins
Urgent
Not in the Local Services ads for "foundation repair fort worth"

Four competitors show the Google Verified badge above every other result for your main search. You appear only in the paid Search ads underneath them.

Fix: start Local Services verification this week. Insurance and background checks are the slow part, so start them first.

Urgent
Search ads are costing about $221 per lead

$3,100 last month for 14 calls and form fills. That's well above the $166 contractor average, and Local Services would bill only for valid leads instead of every click.

Fix: move budget into Local Services once you're verified, and keep Search for high-intent terms only.

Important
Phone calls aren't counted as conversions

Google is optimising for form fills only, so the bidding can't tell a booked inspection from a bounce.

Fix: set up call conversions from ads and from the website, with a minimum call length.

Important
Budget leaking to DIY and job-seeker searches

Broad-match keywords matched "foundation repair jobs" and "diy foundation crack repair". There's no negative keyword list.

Fix: add a foundation-specific negative list and move the top 10 terms to phrase match.

Important
The mobile site takes 5.9 seconds to load and the number isn't tappable

Financing and the warranty only appear three screens down. A homeowner comparing three companies at night won't scroll that far.

Fix: tap-to-call in the header, financing and warranty above the fold, and a two-tap inspection booking.

Quick win
38 Google reviews against a local median of 140

The last new review was 47 days ago, and the primary category is broader than it should be.

Fix: an automatic review request by text after every completed job.

Quick win
Calls after 6pm go straight to voicemail

There's no text-back, so an evening caller is left to try the next company on the list.

Fix: a missed-call text-back today, and an AI receptionist that books evening inspections.

What I'd do first · next 30 days

  1. Submit Local Services verification for the Google Verified badge (week 1).
  2. Fix call tracking and add negative keywords, so the current spend stops leaking.
  3. Make the mobile site tap-to-call with booking and financing above the fold.
  4. Turn on missed-call text-back and review requests.

Sample only. The company and figures are illustrative, not a real client. B2B audits follow the same format: your market, your best-fit buyers and what to do first.

How it works

A few questions.
One written audit.

01

You answer a few questions

Who you sell to, your industry, where you work and what's bringing in clients now. It takes about a minute.

02

I check what's public

Your listing, your site, your ads in Google's Ads Transparency Center — or for B2B, your market and the buyers in it. Account access is optional.

03

You get it in writing

Within 24 hours on a working day: what's leaking, what it costs, and what to fix first. Act on it yourself or with us.

Who writes your audit

Pieter de Bruyn, founder

Every audit is written by me, not generated by a tool and not handed to a junior. If your setup is already good, the audit will say so. I'd rather you trust the next thing I tell you.

About the audit

Fair questions.

Is the audit really free?
Yes. No card, no contract, no call required. You get a written document you can keep and act on yourself, whether or not you ever work with us.
Do I have to give you access to my Google Ads account?
No. The first pass uses what anyone can see: your Google listing, your website, whether you appear in Local Services Ads, and your ads in Google's public Ads Transparency Center. Read-only access is optional and only needed if you want exact cost-per-lead numbers.
What if I'm not running any ads yet?
Then the audit shows what the first 90 days should look like: whether you qualify for the Google Verified badge, what a realistic starting budget is for your area, and what your website needs before you pay for a single click.
What's in a B2B audit?
Who your best-fit buyers are, roughly how many of them exist in your market, which job titles sign off on what you sell, and what they find when they look you up. Plus what we would do first to get you in front of them.
Do you work outside Texas?
Yes. We audit and work with businesses anywhere in the United States.
